The upper calf is knit long, soft and stretchy, so it clears a fuller calf on the way up and then lies flat where it lands. No trench, no rolled edge, and no sliding down to the ankle by lunchtime.

If you want graduated support as well as room, the over the calf style holds firmest at the ankle and eases off as it climbs, finishing with a band that stays soft where it lands.

How wide a calf will these fit?

The top is knit to stretch a long way and then relax back, which is why there is no single number on the pack. If you are unsure, call us on (800) 214-0218 with the measurement around the widest part of your calf and we will tell you honestly.

Will the top roll down?

It should not. The hold is spread along several inches of soft knit rather than concentrated in one band at the top, which is what makes a cuff roll.

Which of the four should I pick?

Take the Ultra-Soft Upper Calf if you want the softest, roomiest top with no squeeze. Take the Over The Calf Compression Socks if you also want graduated support up the leg. The Cotton Crew has the same wide, non-binding top at mid-calf, and the Cotton Ankle stops just above the ankle, so there is nothing to clear.

How do the sizes run?

Sizes go by your everyday shoe size, and the exact range for each style is listed on its product page. The women's range starts at Small (shoe size 4–7). Between sizes, go up.
